Nestling on the North West edge of Dartmoor, this beautiful 15th century manor house, once owned by the Hamilton family, is built of granite and covered in creeper and stands in four acres of picturesque gardens and paddocks. All of the nine ensuite rooms have gorgeous views, are individually and tastefully furnished to a very high standard and offer a very special comfort. Guests can unwind in the cosy bar lounge, where in colder weather a log fire welcomes you. From the gardens, visitors can enjoy glorious views of magnificent countryside, with the vista of Cornwall in front and the ragged tors of Dartmoor towering behind. Close by there are several fine 18 hole golf courses, walks directly on to Dartmoor and pony trekking and riding on Dartmoor can be arranged, as well as fishing. Horse racing at Newton Abbot and Devon and Exeter are just 40 minutes away and the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan are within easy reach. Our Restaurant is open for evening food on most evenings, but to guarantee areservation, we would recommend you reserve a table in advance. Wherepossible we serve a locally sourced menu, including some home grown produce.Please inform us if you have any allergies or special dietary requirementsthat we should know about, particularly regarding foodWe take food very seriously at Collaven, and you can enjoy a four course dinner in the 'Hamilton Restaurant' with the best of local and home grown produce. The menu changes daily with the emphasis on the best of British cooking, enhanced with continental and oriental influences and also vegetarian Specialities. A selection of fine wines is available. A separate beamed Inglenook Restaurant is available for private parties. Children welcome.
